How to set up the Card Flip widget
Stand out in your customers' inboxes and gamify your offers!
Dima Lkh

The Card Flip widget (example) lets brands gamify emails, enticing users to click multiple times to unveil special offers.

Step 1: Create the Card Flip Widget

Setting up the Card Flip widget is as simple as adding any of our other interactive widgets. You will find the Card Flip Widget in the Interactive Widgets section when you click Add Element. You can select the widget, set up the number of cards, and click Create Widget. The widget comes pre-loaded sample images. You can delete them and start uploading your own design assets via File Upload or URL.

Add Element → Interactive Widgets → Card Flip → Widget Setup → Create Widget

Step 2: Upload Your Creatives

The Card Flip Widget consists of a Banner Image, Grid Images, and an optional Call to Action Image. Each image can be updated for three states: Start, Incorrect, and Correct. These states correspond to the initial display before any interaction, the response when a recipient clicks on an incorrect card, and the response when they click on the correct card to reveal the special offer, respectively.

Banner Images

For each of the Start, Incorrect, and Correct states, you can customize the Banner Image. This allows you to guide users towards the desired action effectively.

  • Start Banner Image sets the theme and captures the recipient's attention clearly indicating that the email is interactive.
  • Incorrect Banner Image encourages continued interaction after a user clicks an incorrect card. It should suggest that they try clicking another card to find the correct one.
  • Correct Banner Image communicates that the recipient has found the correct card. It should directly link to your special offer. Ensure that the copy and design are aligned with the theme of your offer.

Grid Images

For each Start, Incorrect, and Correct states, you need to update the grid images.

  • Start Grid Image represents the appearance of each card before any interaction. For each card image. We recommend designing this image with a slight change in color or position relative to the Start Grid Image.
  • Incorrect Grid Image appears when a user selects any card other than the correct one. It serves to prompt further interaction, guiding people towards the correct card.
  • Correct Grid Image is displayed when a user clicks on the correct card, revealing the special offer. Link this image directly to your special offer and ensure that the copy and design are consistent with the theme of your offer.
Note: You have the option to add a Hover Image, which makes the experience much effective on Desktop.

Call to Action Images

For each Start, Incorrect, and Correct state, you have the option to add or update the CTA (Call to Action) image that shows below the grid.

Step 3: Add Fallback

Designing Fallback for your in-email game is very easy as we provide a unique link of the interactive experience for each customer. You can grab the link in the Configure tab and use it with the design assets of the game for the Fallback design. Another option is to use a single image that you would have used for a regular static email with the link to your offer without the game.

Copy Web Link from Widget → Fallback → Add Static Email Design Asset → Paste the Web Link

Step 4: Test and Export Template to Klaviyo

After you've set up your game and finalized your email design, you're ready to test and export it to use in your Klaviyo campaign or flow email.
